The Chronicle of Higher Education seeks a talented and committed Web Developer for its New Media Department. The Web Developer will be responsible for the building and maintenance of web applications that interact with databases across multiple websites. He or she will be key part of new initiatives involving our Web redesign.
The ideal candidate will have experience with building high-traffic websites. Knowledge of building websites using PHP, MySQL, Apache and Linux is essential. Familiarity with PHP-based content management systems, Shell scripting, Perl, JavaScript, DOM, CSS, Pear and/or LDAP is preferred. Two-three years of related experiences is required. It is vital to be self-motivated, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to work in a collaborative deadline-driven environment, and pay close attention to detail.
The Chronicle of Higher Education and its sister publication, The Chronicle of Philanthropy are the leading sources for news, career searches and community discussion in higher education and philanthropy, respectively. The New Media department supports the Web design and maintenance of the company Web sites, most notably, www.chronicle.com and www.philanthropy.com.
