Princeton Server Group, a Business Unit of TelVue Corporation, is seeking a Ruby on Rails enthusiast and expert to work on our digital video automation and content management appliance product lines. Princeton Server Group creates Linux-based Broadcast Automation Applications that help our clients acquire, manage, and play digital media. This is a chance to work with a sophisticated media application written in RoR and being used every day in the broadcast industry. We are looking for someone that believes in and is excited by how Ruby and Ruby on Rails has re-shaped the application development space and who can help us develop a Ruby codebase that manages and interacts with all aspects of our video servers.

Specifically, we are looking for a candidate with a thorough understanding and past experience with:

• Ruby, version 1.8 and forward
• Ruby on Rails 1.2 and 2.x
• MySQL 4.x and 5.x
• Lighttpd
• Linux (2.4 and 2.6 kernel)
• Javascript (ECMAScript)

In addition, experience with the following would be a plus:

• Flash including ActionScript (Flex experience a plus)
• Python 2.3 through 2.5 and PHP 4 and 5 a plus
• PostgreSQL 7.x and 8.x a plus
• Experience with media applications including content management systems, digital asset management systems, streaming video servers, IPTV, and broadcast television.

We use Agile development methodologies and are strong believers in object-oriented programming practices such as design patterns. We are interested in finding a candidate that has ideas on performance tuning large RoR applications.

This position is for our Princeton, NJ office where you will work as part of our media technology development team. We want an expert on-site, and so please at this time no telecommute or remote candidates.
