Rails developer at QTrait.com

Location: Seattle, WA
URL: www.qtrait.com

QTrait.com is seeking an experienced developer in the Seattle/Bainbridge area to help implement the new design of our personal genetic testing web portal. QTrait makes genetic testing available for everyone, in an affordable, secure, and intelligent manner. We’re conscientious and creative, we want to develop healthy satisfied customers, and we know happy employees are a key to our future success. We are a new start up, so we are small, flexible and agile, and we evolve quickly.

The ideal candidate should have a strong history of creating consumer web applications and be comfortable expressing complex information in such a way that is easily consumed by the average internet user. We need a person who will be excited about working with scientists and other employees, both one-on-one and in groups, and who is not afraid of challenging concepts. Optimally, we need a person who can be a forward thinker, and help anticipate and manage the server(s) needs as we grow. Finally, you must have significant experience developing exceptional customer-facing apps and production work in Ruby on Rails.

Skills:

  • 3++ years working experience in application development
  • Significant expertise in Ruby on Rails, database management and mySQL or equivalent query language
  • Imaging and\or Graphics technology expertise helpful
  • Direct experience with the use of current web APIs is a plus.
  • Passion for user interaction, interfaces, and usability.
  • Excellent exploratory, debugging, and problem solving skills are required, as are good written and verbal communication skills.

This position is a full-time contract position to support the launch of the new design. Web site and server support work and development beyond that will be determined after launch. We can accommodate local telecommuting some days of the week. The hours are flexible, but it is strongly preferable if many of those hours occurred during the normal working day (9-6).

LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY.
