Position Summary

The Director of Project Management (web development) is responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale web development client engagements and/or multiple smaller engagements (microsites, landing pages) for a single client. This role manages complex, multi-track projects or large-scale web programs to an acceptable level of risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality while maintaining a positive environment that promotes individual development and high performance standards. The Director is often the primary client contact as well as the Organic project team leader, which requires the ability to effectively balance longer-term strategic issues with day-to-day tactical project issues.

This is a detail oriented role that requires advanced problem solving skills, business skills, solid verbal and written communication skills, excellent relationship building skills, as well as strong leadership and team management skills, flexibility, resiliency and the ability to manage client expectations through proactive communication, status reporting and scope management. The Director of Project Management is a natural leader with experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and a proven track record delivering projects on time and on budget.

Skills/Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Leads and motivates large multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Fosters cross disciplinary communications on all levels.
  • Experiences with process definition and the ability to define solutions that will generate measurable results for the client.
  • Experience with web development methodologies including traditional creative processes, agile software development, iterative, SCRUM, feature driven development or similar.
  • Experience with full lifecycle of client projects from business development to project closeout and client satisfaction evaluation.
  • Excellent negotiating experience (especially contract negotiations) with both clients and partners.
  • Applies concepts in web site architecture, strategy, marketing, advertising, e-business, media, and brand management.
  • Manages project/program P&L (which requires a comprehensive understanding of financial and operational metrics and levels).
  • Builds strong relationships within the client’s organization through quality work and thought leadership.
  • Defines and manages team expectations regarding scope of work and responsibilities.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, problem solver and able to work on multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Ensures client approvals and sign-offs on all major deliverables.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills (lead client meetings with senior staff; create and deliver persuasive presentations, etc.).
  • Experience with internet development and/or software and system development.
  • Identifies additional revenue opportunities.
  • Identifies and mitigate project/program risks.
  • Identifies the decision makers and influencers within the complex client organizational structure.
  • Manages resource allocation and utilizations, scope including identifying issues and notifying clients.
  • Manages the client’s expectation and communication as it relates to production and the internal project team.
  • Organizes the client’s needs and priorities with Organics; influence the client’s decisions.
  • Represents the team’s consensus in all client communications
  • Is a strategic thinker across many business categories consistently presenting clients with new opportunities for Organic to add value or provide insight to overall business objectives. Deliver regular client reviews and business recommendations.
  • Has strong project management skills and experience, including:
  • Budget/schedule development and management/oversight
  • Resource management and forecasting
  • Task and delivery management
  • Risk identification and management
  • Leadership, teambuilding, and team management
  • Some travel required.
  • Thought leadership, advocating Organics philosophy both internally and externally.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Work Experience

  • 7+ yrs overall experience preferred including:
  • 2+ yrs interactive background or ad agency with interactive experience.
  • 5+ yrs experience in managing people, tasks, and clients in a matrix environment.
  • 5+ yrs experience in a similar role. (Web development firm, IT consulting firm, strategy consulting firm, or agency environment).
  • Bachelors/MBA degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • PMI certification a plus.
