The Information Architect (IA) works behind the scenes but at the forefront of new VH1 Digital projects, taking into account not only the purpose and goals of the project, but also the best way to articulate those purposes and goals to the target audience, to help develop meaningful user experiences. User, stakeholder, and competitive research will drive personas and scenarios that will result in conceptual concepts, site maps, annotated wire frames, and functional specifications.

Project priorities are set by VH1 Digital’s SVP and produced under the direction of the Sr. Director of Product Development.

The IA works cross-departmentally, mainly with Project Management, Design, Page Code Development, Software Development, SEO, and QA Groups. From time to time, you may also work with third party vendors or other departments or including VH1 Content Producers, Editorial, Marketing, Business Development, Radio, News, E-Commerce, Ad Sales, Mobile, and Press. As part of a team, you will help define objectives, requirements, risk, and scope of the project.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Product Development VH1 Digital.

Principle Responsibilities:

Documentation of Digital Products • Requirements Gathering • Site Maps • Wireframes • Functional Specifications Documentation

Functional Development • Work collaboratively with the design and technical teams, to define functionality, and user experience • Work with technical team to prototype and develop for optimal usability within established criteria. • As needed, help out with QA and business groups to eliminate bugs. Content Integration • Work together with backend programmers to develop ways of porting and distributing old and new content. • Work with editorial, show producers as necessary to explain how to use new products • Write FAQ’s for new products and in the case when developing a tool, document the usage process for producers.

Communication with VH1 Digital Staff and Management: • Product Development • Design • Production • Project Manager • Manager of SEO • Technical Leads (software and page dev) • QA • Marketing • Ad Sales • Business Development • Research • Reporting

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • 5+ years experience working for a large entertainment driven company within the internet / digital area. • Strong Visio skills, MS Office, knowledge of Photoshop and HTML. • Proven strong project management skills, ability to deliver requirements, make deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Proven knowledge and skill of digging into web site traffic and other user behavior statistics to gain perspective on the effects of product development efforts. • Demonstrated strong experience in social network and self-expression sites.(E.g. mySpace, YouTube, Facebook, Blogs, Google, Yahoo, Digg, Flickr, Twitter, etc.) • Demonstrated knowledge of current digital technology news, search trends, SEO, etc., and the ability to share articles and information with the team. • Demonstrated ability to debate user experience ideas in a professional manor. • Demonstrated strong written and oral communications skills. • Demonstrated strong ability to present internally and externally. • Demonstrated ability to consistently promote your best ideas, encourage team member ideas, collaborate, build consensus and encourage teamwork. (Best ideas that align successfully with overall business goals) • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people of all levels and different expertise. • Proven strong detail and organizational skills in a fast-paced, ever changing, driven environment. • Proven ability to be flexible to accommodate priority shifts and deadlines with a business demeanor. • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and generate new, effective, ideas for projects and implement successfully through flowcharting and task and deadline management. • Strong business ethics.
